Mayor, 2 Councilmembers Qualify for Re-election

Mayor Judy Jordan Johnson and Councilmembers Marie Beiser and Tony Powell qualified for re-election Monday.

On Monday, current Lawrenceville Mayor Judy Jordan Johnson submitted her qualification notice to run for re-election. She made the announcement quietly on Facebook by simply stating "I qualified to seek re-election earlier today."

Councilmembers Marie Beiser and Tony Powell also qualified for re-election. Beiser currently holds Post 1 and Powell Post 2. 

Mayor Johnson is currently serving her first term. Beiser is serving her second and Powell his first.

All three will be running for four year terms for the first time. In April, changes to the city's charter allowing for the Mayor and City Councilmembers to hold four year terms instead of the current two year terms.

The , August 31st at 4:30pm. Notices must be filed at City Hall between 8:30am and 4:30pm now through Friday. The qualifying fee for Mayor is $288 and City Council is $216.
