Lawrenceville Readies for Runoff

Voters will decide whether Peter "P.K." Martin IV or Rex Millsaps will fill the final City Council seat.

The votes were in the race for City Council Post 4. So residents in the City of Lawrenceville will head back to the polls Tuesday to decide whether current Councilman will keep his seat or if former mayor will return to city government.

On November 8, Millsaps led the voting with 656 votes while Martin had 616. The numbers were too close to declare an outright winner. Political newcomer Renita Hamilton was also on the ballot. She finished with 312 votes.

The polls at will be open between 7am and 7pm. City Clerk Karen Pierce said a high number of voters came out on Election Day. . Pierce is not expecting the same numbers for Tuesday's runoff however. "I have no idea on number of voters but if I had to guess probably between 300 and 600," said Pierce in an email to Lawrenceville Patch.
