Lane Closures On I-85 For Signage of New HOT Lanes Expected To Continue Through July

GDOT spokesperson said work is scheduled for completion July 31

The construction on the new signs to convert the) lanes is expected to be complete by July 31 and until the Georgia Department of Transportation plans to continue with lane closures to complete the work.

“Each night the contractor installs two more signs,” said Teri Pope, spokesperson for G-DOT. “Once all the work is done SRTA (State Road and Tollway Authority) will operate the express lane system, setting the toll cost and charging that cost.”

When completed, registered transit buses, motorcycles, alternative fueled vehicles and vehicles with three or more passengers will be allowed to use the inside (left) HOT lane for free, while single and double occupant vehicles will be allowed to use the lane if they choose to pay a variably priced toll. In the meantime, the following day and nighttime closures will continue this week.
