DEA Holding Prescription Drug Take Back Program Saturday

Do you have expired prescription drugs in your medicine cabinet? The Drug Enforcement Agency is hosting a prescription drug take back program Saturday nationwide from 10am to 2pm. This service is free and anonymous. People may drop off any prescription drugs, no questions asked.

The DEA is trying to get old, unused prescription medications out of homes to prevent diversion, misuse and abuse.

“Prescription drug abuse is a major epidemic across the country and DEA is committed to reducing the potential for misuse by providing a safe and secure method for Americans to clean out their medicine cabinets and properly dispose of unwanted, unneeded, or expired medications,” said DEA Administrator Michele M. Leonhart in a release.  

In the three previous drug take back days, the DEA collected more than 500 tons of prescription medications.
