Councilman P.K. Martin Will Not Seek Re-Election

Martin served four terms on Lawrenceville's city council.

Councilman P.K. Martin announced he will not run for re-election this November.

“It has been a tremendous honor to the serve the people of my hometown, and I am truly thankful for having that opportunity. I ran for City Council because of my belief that Lawrenceville is outstanding and deserved leaders who dream big and have no small ideas," said the four-term Councilman in a release. "I have truly been humbled by the trust the people have placed in me, and I have been proud of my record of making Lawrenceville even better.”

In 2011, Martin faced stiff competition in his run for re-election for Post 4. The three way race between the incumbent, former mayor Rex Millsaps and business owner Renita Hamilton resulted in a runoff between Martin and Millsaps. Martin defeated the former mayor in the runoff election.

“While my time on the Council may be coming to an end, my desire to serve our community has only grown stronger. Over the next few months I plan to take some time to consider my options and next steps in how to more effectively serve our community and families in public office moving forward," said Martin.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 5. Post 3, the seat currently held by Robert Clark, is also up for election.
