Bethesda Park Softball Fields To Get Makeover

The million dollar project will include a new concessions stand, fencing, a repaved parking lot and more.

The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners approved a $1.02 million renovation of the softball fields at Bethesda Park in Lawrenceville on Tuesday.

Improvements will include a new two-story building to house concessions, restrooms a scorekeeper's deck and offices. The area around the fields will also get improved field drainage, provide more shade for spectators, add fencing and landscaping and repave the parking lot.

“This is another great example of how we’re renovating older County facilities to maintain current service levels while at the same time reducing our operating costs," said District 2 Commissioner Lynette Howard in a release.

The softball fields at Bethesda Park host tournaments about 40 weekends a year. It is also the home field for the Gwinnett Masters, a team for adult special needs athletes.
