Income tax filing season for 2013 returns soon will be officially open. And Gwinnett County residents will have a free resource for help.

According to Kerry O'Kelley, Programs Supervisor at the Bethesda Park Senior Center, AARP will offer tax assistance on Tuesdays through Fridays starting February 4 and going until April 15, 2014, on a first-come, first-served basis. This will be held from 8 a.m to noon on those dates.

The site will be at Bethesda Park Senior Center, 225 Bethesda Church Road in Lawrenceville. For more information, call (678) 277-0179.

The Internal Revenue Service has announced that 2013 tax returns will be accepted beginning Jan. 31, 2014. The date was moved back due to the 2013 federal government shutdown.
