Wrong-Way Driver Killed on Hwy. 316

The vehicle struck two guard rails and broke into two pieces, according to Gwinnett County Police.

Gwinnett County Police are investigating a fatal car crash involving a wrong-way driver on Highway 316.

Authorities received many reports on the vehicle around 2 a.m. Saturday (March 30), according to a news release from Gwinnett County spokesman Sgt. Rich Long. The car had been traveling north on I-85 South in DeKalb County and made its way to driving east on Highway 316 West in Gwinnett.

The vehicle eventually struck two guard rails and broke into two pieces. The driver, a male, died at the scene. The identity of the driver has not been released.

Before the collision, authorities attempted to intercept the vehicle, but due to its speed and reckless driving, they were unsuccessful.
