A woman is being accused of littering a Lawrenceville roadway with a teacher's school papers and crossing the street without using a crosswalk.

Omiyanka Bruce, 22, of McDonough, was arrested last month on the following charges: two counts of criminal trespassing (damage) and one count each of criminal trespassing (interference of property), pedestrian not using a crosswalk, and littering.

According to the Gwinnett County Police report, an officer responded to a parking lot near the intersection of Sugarloaf Parkway and Lawrenceville Highway around midnight on a recent Thursday in regards to an alleged dispute between Bruce and the victim, a 29-year-old teacher from Lawrenceville.

In the 911 call, the victim told authorities that Bruce had opened all the doors of her car in the parking lot and would not let her shut them so that she could drive away. The suspect also refused to leave the vehicle, added the victim.

Upon arrival, the officer observed Bruce crossing the street diagonally and not at a crosswalk, even though there was one nearby. He also saw the victim's cell phone, school papers and projects, and miscellaneous items on the ground in the parking lot and roadway. Everything was wet because it was a rainy, windy night.

The officer stopped Bruce and asked if she had thrown all the items out of the car. She admitted that she did, and police brought her back to the vehicle.

"What are you arresting me for, crossing the street?" she asked, according to the report.

She then was placed under arrest. She allegedly told the officer that she needed a lawyer and would deny everything to the judge.
