WNBA's Maya Moore's Olympic Ring Stolen, Sold to Gold Buying Store

Cobb County Police say the Collins Hill High School grad's gold ring was sold to a store at Cumberland Mall for $144. A suspect has been arrested.

WNBA star Maya Moore reportedly had her U.S. Olympic gold medalist stolen according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The ring later turned up at a Gold Rush jewelry store at the Cumberland Mall.

Moore grew up in Lawrenceville and is a Collins Hill High School graduate. She currently plays for the Minnesota Lynx with whom she won a championship in 2011.

According to the AJC, Cobb County Police have arrested Jamaal Dontray Taylor, 19 of Marietta. Police say Taylor claimed the ring belonged to him when he sold it the the jewelry store for $144 in November. The jeweler later called police and Taylor was arrested in December.

Moore reported a package that was supposed to contain her ring was missing from her Cobb County home last fall.

According to Cobb County Jail records, Taylor was charged with a felony charge of theft by receiving stolen property and a misdemeanor charge of theft by deception.

Taylor is currently in custody without bond on violation of probation.
