Wanted Lawrenceville Man Locks Himself in House, Makes Demands for Meth

The man had a warrant for his arrest out of Gwinnett County.

A wanted man from Lawrenceville locked himself inside a Snellville home and told police that he wouldn't come out unless he could smoke some methamphetamines earlier this month.

According to the Gwinnett County Police report, the homeowner of a residence on the 4100 block of Tanglewood Road called authorities to let them know the man, James Michael Enix, was in his house.

The 32-year-old Lawrenceville, was wanted on charges of battery and theft by taking.

When police arrived, they noticed a window in the garage was smashed, the front door of the house was off its hinges, and the mailbox was dented and bloody.

Enix kept yelling "Come on!" from inside the home, according to the report. He leaned out of an upstairs window and yelled that police would either have to shoot or taze him before he would be arrested again. When he realized one of the officers was equipped with a less-lethal shotgun, Enix retreated back inside the house.

When asked to negotiate, he told police that all he wanted to do was smoke meth. When an officer told him that he couldn't do that, Enix allegedly said, "I'll come down if one officer with balls will come inside and get me."

Police asked him many times if he would be compliant if they sent one officer in, but Enix would not respond. They even asked him if they could "just go get a beer ... once he came down and got everything cleared up," says the report.

Eventually the officer explained that, if he didn't come out peacefully, a dog would be sent into the home. This brought Enix out of the home with his hands up.

His right arm was very bloody, and when police asked him what happened, he said a girl did it to him. When he was being treated by the fire department, though, he told them there may still be glass in it, and then said "Oops, I guess I shouldn't have said that," according to the report.

The homeowner said Enix had shown up to his house, and due to a recent falling out, the man told the suspect that he was no longer welcome there. Enix became irate and smashed the window in the garage, then began hitting the mailbox. Finally, he came up to the front door and kicked it off its hinges. Enix went inside, yelled at the homeowner and grabbed a knife.

In addition to the previous charges, Enix was arrested on charges of criminal trespassing.

Enix has been wanted since early April in connection to the assault of a woman at the same Snellville residence. The two were friends and hanging out in the early morning hours. The woman announced that she was leaving soon, so she asked for her phone back from Enix, who had been using it.

He suddenly became angry and struck her in the head with the phone, causing her to bleed. He also threw her purse out of the window.

Another man who was asleep in the next room heard the commotion and went to see what it was about. Enix was holding a fireplace prodder and said "I'm going to kill her!"

The other man then grabbed a machete nearby and ordered Enix to leave, which he did sans prodder. He saw Enix pick up the items from the woman's purse outside and flee the scene.
