UPDATE: Sugarloaf Re-Opened After Suspicious Package Found

GCPD says the intersection at Sugarloaf and Lawrenceville Highway was re-opened shortly after its closure.

The intersection at Sugarloaf Parkway and Highway 29/Lawrenceville Highway re-opened shortly after being shut down due to a suspicious package found in the area.Β Gwinnett County Police spokesperson Cpl. Jake Smith said a package was found at the Shell gas station at the intersection at around 12:30 Wednesday afternoon.

Smith said the package in question was a briefcase left next to fuel pumps. The owner of the briefcase returned to retrieve it just minutes after the EOD Unit (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) arrived on the scene. Smith says they unit used a robot to investigate the briefcase before returning it to the owner.
