Total Loss in July Fourth House Fire, 7 Displaced

A passerby was first to notice the blaze, according to Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services.

A family of seven, including four children, has been displaced by an overnight fire early Friday, according to Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services.

Crews arrived at the home off the 4400 block of Sugarloaf Parkway just before 3 a.m. Friday, working for more than a half-hour to put out the fire.

The family was not at home at the time, and it was a passerby that first noticed the fire.

Fire trucks arrived to find the home fully involved and firefighters could not enter the home because of the magnitude of the blaze, according to a Gwinnett County release. The home is considered a total loss.

"The fire is believed to have started on the backside of the home, however the exact cause is currently undetermined and is under active investigation by the fire department," according to a statement by fire spokesperson Capt. Tommy Rutledge.
