Skeletal Remains Found Jan. 6 Match Remains from 2009

A human skull and other bones found last week matches a dismembered torso found in the same area in 2009.

On January 6th, someone stumbled upon in a heavily wooded area off Brown Road in Buford. Gwinnett County Police said a human skull and scattered skeletal remains were found a few hundred yards off Brown Road between Sunny Hill Road and Morgan Road. That was in the same vicinity where a dismembered torso was found in 2009.

11Alive reports that the bones found earlier this month match those found three years ago. Gwinnett Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Carole Terry told WXIA's Kevin Rowson a broken piece of femur bone found in 2009 fit a piece of femur found on the 6th.

"We have a dismembered body or torso and we've got extremities that have been cut," said Terry in the interview. "So the thought was, let's go back and compare them with the bones we have from the torso and see if they match."
