Shoplifter Caught Stealing Allergy Medicine at Lawrenceville Target

After being caught shoplifting, suspect gives officers false information.

GCPD responded to a call at the on June 18. A loss prevention officer at the store reported catching a suspect who was shoplifting medication.

The loss prevention officer stated he observed the suspect as he put a box of Coricidin Allergy Medication into his pocket and proceeded to walk past the point of purchase with the item concealed in his pocket. Two store officers then confronted the suspect who made what was described as "an aggressive move" towards the officer. The suspect was placed in handcuffs for his own safety.

At the scene, the suspect admitted to a GCPD officer that he had stolen the medication and had made a mistake, however he stated he wanted to take the pills. The suspect told police he did not have identification on his person and went on to give officers false information regarding his name and date of birth.

Upon further questioning the suspect admitted to giving false information to the police and stated he had "panicked." The suspect was placed under arrest and transported to the Gwinnett County Detention Center.
