Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane, whose real name is Radric Davis and who is a previously convicted felon, pleaded guilty in federal court on Tuesday to illegally possessing a gun.

According to United States Attorney Sally Quillian Yates, the charges and other information presented in court: On Sept. 14, 2013, the Atlanta Police Department received a call from a concerned citizen, who told police that Davis was acting violent and had a handgun in east Atlanta.

Police found Davis, 34, on the street, smelling strongly of marijuana, with a Glock, 40 cal. handgun loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition in his possession. When police arrived, Davis was waving the handgun and making threatening comments.

The charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in jail and a fine of up to $250,000. But the district court, upon accepting the plea, will sentence Davis, of Atlanta, to serve 39-months in a federal prison for his crime. Sentencing has been set for July 28, 2014, before United States District Court Judge Steve C. Jones.

Davis has been incarcerated since last September.

“Davis has a long history of violence and of illegally possessing and using guns," said Yates in a release. “This Office will prosecute those who illegally possess firearms, especially when, as Davis did, they have a history of violence and threaten others with firearms. Our priority is to take violent repeat offenders off our streets to build safer communities.”

Sam, because criminals follow the laws as clearly evident in this case. Brooke - too funny! I think this guy needs some anti-psychotics and a 10 year stint in an asylum to figure out what his deal is. Who, in their right mind, tattoos an ICE CREAM CONE on their FACE?

Maybe when he gets out he might be in to classic jazz. Gucci Mane's latest tattoo — an ice cream cone with three scoops and the word "brrr" across the right side of his face — has appeared all over the internet today. For the most part, people seem shocked and confused by the rapper's unusual decision, and some have questioned whether his recent stay in a mental health facility was a bit too brief. After all, the tattoo is rather extreme in its prominence, even for a guy whose body is mostly covered in ink and already had a few facial tattoos. So what does the ice cream cone mean? According to Gucci's spokesperson Kali Bowyer, the image is "a reminder to fans of how he chooses to live his life. Cool as ice. As in 'I'm so icy, I'll make ya say Brr.'" Bowyer tells Rolling Stone that the ice cream cone design was also used for a medallion that Gucci has worn for years and can be seen in most of the photos making the rounds on the internet today.
