Police ID Car in Cell Phone Store Robberies

Gwinnett detectives have determined that the suspect's vehicle was a silver 2001 to 2004 Lexus GS300 or Lexus GS430 in the Norcross-area incidents.

Gwinnett County Police have determined the type of vehicle used by the suspect in a series of cell phone store robberies.

Surveillance tape has deteremined that the vehicle is a silver Lexus GS300 or Lexus GS430, year 2001 to 2004. The car was seen at most of the robberies, according to a Gwinnett County press release by spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith.

Eight robberies have been reported so far, dating from May 26 to August 31. At least six of those incidents were reported in unincorporated Norcross and one occurred in the Lilburn area.

In each incident, police say one or two black male suspects robbed the stores at gunpoint. At least one of the suspects captured on surveillance video in each case appears to be the same person.

The primary suspect usually produces a handgun from his pants' waist, then orders the employees into a back bathroom or closet, and tells them not to come out until a few minutes have elapsed, officials said. In about two minutes, the robbery is complete.

The suspect is described as being a black male with a light skin tone, about 5'8" tall, and 150 pounds.
