News Report: Lawrenceville Man Wanted for Unemployment Insurance Fraud

A Lawrenceville man is among at least several others in Gwinnett County wanted on charges of defrauding the state Department of Labor.

According to a Gwinnett Daily Post report, the man -- Henry Small, 66 -- is being charged with receiving more than $20,000 in benefits he was not eligible for. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Persons who "knowingly collect unemployment insurance benefits based on false or inaccurate information" they provide to the Department of Labor are committing fraud, according to the agency.

Those who commit fraud may face punishment, including repaying the money plus fines, prosecution, jail or prison terms, forfeiting future tax refunds, or losing eligibility for future unemployment benefits.

If anyone becomes aware of such fraud, they are asked to contact the Georgia Department of Labor.
