Man, Woman Seriously Injured in Lester Road House Fire

The victims were found unresponsive and taken to Gwinnett Medical Center.

Two people were seriously injured in a house fire early Thursday morning near Lawrenceville.

Gwinnett Fire Department spokesman Capt. Tommy Rutledge said in an emailed media alert that an older man and woman were found unresponsive by firefighters at a single-story house fire on Lester Road, south of Lawrenceville Highway.

Rutledge said the victims were taken to Gwinnett Medical Center. Their conditions are not known.

WSB-TV reported the injuries were due to smoke inhalation.

The fire happened on the 200 block of Lester Road after 4 a.m. Crews were dispatched at 4:31 a.m.

This is an area in unincorporated Gwinnett in between Lawrenceville and Lilburn.

Rutledge said a passerby reported the fire. The cause of the fire has not been determined and under investigation.

Lester Road has been closed to traffic.
