Man Killed in Reported Burglary Attempt

Late Sunday night, were called to the . When they arrived at around 11pm, police say found two men who had been assaulted. One of those men, later identified as Anthony Shane Augustus, 24 of Lawrenceville, had been shot in the lower abdomen.

Augustus was taken to where he later died from his injuries.

The second victim was also taken to GMC for his injuries. He was treated and released.

According to LPD's investigation, the two interrupted a burglary in progress inside apartment 109. Police say there was a struggle between the two suspects and at least one victim. 

Investigators say the burglary appears to have targeted that particular unit and was not random. 

LPD is currently following up on several leads in the case.
