LPD Nabs One Burglar, Searching for Accomplice

The man reportedly stole items from Sosebee's Auto Supply in Lawrenceville, Ga. and tried to escape in a car stolen from DeKalb County.

An audible alarm went off at at 3:44am Thursday, alerting . When officers arrived at the business at 190 S. Clayton Street, they saw a man leaving the store and getting into the passenger seat of a silver minivan.

Officers chased the driver in the early morning hours for a while before the minivan went down an embankment. The two people inside then ran off.

LPD's K9 unit was able to track down and arrest the driver, Tracey Lynn Garrett, 43 of Atlanta. The unidentified passenger managed to get away.

The minivan Garrett was driving was determined to have been stolen in Gwinnett County. Police were able to recover the items stolen from Sosebee's.

With the assistance of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Department and Fulton County Police Department, Lawrenceville officers were able to recover items from a number of burglaries throughout Georgia and Alabama at Garrett's home.

Garrett has been charged with Burglary-2nd degree, Theft by Receiving-Motor Vehicle, Fleeing and Attempting to Elude, along with a number of traffic violations.

He is also considered a suspect in a number of similar burglaries throughout the state.
