Lawrenceville Pizza Hut Robbed at Gunpoint

Victim reported the suspect fled with $2,500 in cash.

Gwinnett Police responded to an armed robbery at the Pizza Hut at 1475 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville on Feb. 20.

According to a police report, a restaurant employee reported hearing the delivery front door open and thought a co-worker was entering the store. The employee walked to the front of the store, where he was approached by a masked individual brandishing a handgun.

The Pizza Hut employee told police the assailant pushed him toward the safe located under the front counter and demanded all the money from the safe and registers. The assailant then fled through the back door with about $2,500 in red plastic envelopes. The employee ran out the front door and called police from a nearby Kroger in the business plaza.

The victim reported to police that through the eye holes of the mask he could tell that the suspect was a white male. The suspect was described as having a thin build and was estimated to be between 5’8” and 5’10” tall with a black jacket with a hood, blue jeans and black shoes. The weapon was described as a large black automatic handgun.

The victim stated that he believed this could be an “inside job,” as the perpetrator knew how to enter the door and was familiar with the store layout. Police officers on the scene recovered a makeshift navy blue face mask from behind the store.
