Lawrenceville Man Reportedly Pulls Down Pants, Yells to Police 'Come and Get It'

The Lawrenceville man was arrested and charged in Lilburn with a number of things, including sexual battery and public indecency.

Lilburn police officers got an eyeful when they recently arrived at the Sherwin Williams store located on Lawrenceville Highway in Lilburn.

When police got to the scene, they encountered a man with his pants down around his ankles. He was standing at the entrance of Sherwin Williams, and was in the process of pulling his pants up.

According to a store employee, the suspect -- later identified as Travis Layton of Lawrenceville -- worked at the Sherwin Williams store. He'd only been working there for two months, the employee said.

Before police arrived, witnesses said Layton tried to give another employee a hug, but was rebuffed. He then grabbed the man by the shoulders and pulled him in for a kiss. When that didn't work, the suspect reportedly tried to grab the man's genitals.

According to the report, Layton tried several times to grab the man's genitals, but never made direct contact. But, he did touch the man's inner thighs. Desperate to stop the unwanted gestures, the man put Layton in a headlock.

Eventually, Layton left from inside the store, and all the doors were locked to the business to prevent re-entry. Layton is accused of then taking off all his clothes and pushing his nude buttocks and genitals against the store window.

At one point Layton also made pelvic thrusting gestures.

When officers arrived police told the suspect to put his hands on the front windows of the store. Another officer then approached, only to be punched in the chest and kicked in the legs by the suspect.

He then pulled his pants back down and exposed his genitals to police and the surrounding public, including two children inside a parked vehicle. He then fell to the ground and yelled "come and get it," according to the police report.

The suspect then jumped to his feet, and lunged at one of the Lilburn officers. An officer then used a taser on the suspect. It subdued him for a moment, but one of the prongs dislodged, so police used the taser again.

This didn't incapacitate the suspect, so he started struggling with an officer again. One of the officers "grabbed him and forced him to the ground."

"While he was on the ground, the white male thrashed wildly and was screaming for a person named Will," the police report states.

He was then handcuffed and secured to the ground until he became less agitated. After he was placed inside a patrol car, the suspect began yelling again.

He said he would be willing to perform a sex act with one of the officers if he was let go. That, of course, didn't happen.

Instead, police booked Layton into the Gwinnett County Detention Center on March 21.

He is charged with two counts of child molestation (due to children present during the incident), sexual battery, two counts of battery, public indecency and obstruction of police officer.
