are investigating a fatal accident that occurred Sunday morning on New Hope Road between Alcovy River Drive and Palm Creek Court in unincorporated Dacula.
According to police, Bernard F. Jacques, 25, of Lawrenceville, was travelling southbound on New Hope Road at approximately 7am when he lost control of his 1997 Honda Civic as he entered a curve. Jacques’ vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.
Jacques was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and died at the scene as a result of his injuries.
Speed and alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the accident.
