Lawrenceville Girl Struck By Van in Stable Condition

The 10 year old girl who, along with other members of her family, was struck by a minivan, has been upgraded to stable condition. in the bizarre accident in Miami, Fla.

Magdeline Esther Diaz, recently graduated from . Her 14 year old brother Franklin had just finished eighth grade at . He died after a minivan jumped a curb and struck the family as they were walking from a Miami Marlins game. Adriana Maria Diaz, 13, and Esther V. Terrero De Diaz, 53 also died in the accident along with the minivan's driver, Raul Herberto Ortega of Miami. Investigators believe Ortega suffered a medical emergency before losing control of his vehicle.

According to the Miami Herald, the Diaz family was on their way back to Lawrenceville from a month long visit to the Dominican Republic. They were bringing Adriana with them to spend time with her family in Georgia, but made a stop in Miami.

Magdeline's parents did make the trip to the Dominican Republic but decided to skip the baseball game. They were by their daughter's bedside.

WSVN-TV reports the girl is still unaware of the deaths of her family members.

The Diaz is asking for privacy as they prepare to bury three of their loved ones. The funeral for Franklin will take place in Georgia while arrangements for Esther and Adriana are being made in the Dominican Republic.
