Gwinnett Teacher Arrested on Sexual Battery Charge
High school social studies Heriberto Lopez of Lawrenceville is accused of assaulting a student.
A Lawrenceville man who teaches social studies at was arrested in connection with the sexual assault of a student who goes to the school, according to officials.
Heriberto Lopez of the 2500 block of Lockemeade Way was charged with sexual battery and admitted to the on Feb. 28 at 3:30 p.m., according to records. Lopez has been a teacher at Meadowcreek High School since August 2008, according Jorge Quintana, spokesperson for Gwinnett County Schools.
Lopez was released on a $2,400 bond, according to the Detention Center docket.

Because the incident happened off campus, Gwinnett County Police are handling the investigation.
Human resources within the school is also investigating, according to Quintana. Though Lopez is still an employee of the school, he is currently not reporting to Meadowcreek.
