Gwinnett Police Probe Bomb Threat

Man in custody, and businesses evacuated. No evidence of device found in Duluth, near Lawrenceville.

Gwinnett Police had a man in custody Wednesday after investigating his claims that he had a bomb in his car near the intersection of Satellite Boulevard and Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.

The police's Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit was called to a parking lot at the 1900 block of Satellite Boulevard after a man believed to have a mental disorder made claims that voices in his head told him that there is a bomb in his car, Gwinnett Police Cpl. Edwin Ritter said in a release.

Police found no evidence of an explosive device, and were close to wrapping up their investigation.

Only business in the area were evacuated, police said, and no traffic was diverted.
