Gwinnett Police ID Second Suspect in Burglary of 10 Year Old's Home

Media coverage of the burglary in Lawrenceville led to the identification of Damion Burnell who reportedly broke into a house where a 10 year old was home alone. Police are now asking for the public's help in finding him.

On July 27th, shortly after two men , Gwinnett County Police stopped Damion Burnell for questioning. This happened not too far from King's home on Halcyon Way in unincorporated Lawrenceville. However, the 20 year old Burnell's clothing did not match the suspect's description and he denied knowledge of the burglary or knowing D’andrew Greene. Greene, 19, was caught and arrested as he tried to flee the scene. Since officers did not have enough evidence to hold Burnell, they let him go.

After seeing and other news outlets, an anonymous caller contacted police and told them the second suspect was in fact Burnell. The caller confirmed that Burnell and Greene did know each other and had been together around the time of the break-in. Detectives did some more investigation and were able to charge Burnell in this case.

During the investigation, police say a second home on Arnold Mill Way was also burglarized. This home was just one neighborhood away from King's home and used the same mode of operation. Both Greene and Burnell have been charged in that burglary.
