Gwinnett Jail Inmate Tried to Hire Undercover Deputy in Murder-for-Hire Plot

Jeffrey Van Ngo had already been in jail on drug charges.

The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office has uncovered a murder-for-hire plot by an inmate at the county jail.

Deputy Shannon Volkodav said Jeffrey Van Ngo has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder for attempting to hire an undercover deputy to murder a man.

Van Ngo, who is from Norcross according to jail records, has been in jail since March 19 on drug possession and intent to distribute charges.

According to the arrest warrant, Ngo is accused of attempting to line up a hit with the undercover deputy between April 11 and 17 at the jail, located at 2900 University Parkway near Lawrenceville.

His new charges are Conspiracy to Commit a Felony Crime and Criminal Attempt to Commit a Felony Crime.
