Gwinnett Firefighters Respond to House Fire in Lawrenceville

Gwinnett firefighters were called to the 800 block of Josh Lane overnight.

Gwinnett County firefighters responded to an early-morning fire in the 800 block of Josh Lane in Lawrenceville on Aug. 31.Β 

The fire was located in the second-floor laundry room of a split-level wood frame house, according to a press release from the Gwinnett Fire Department. Firefighters were able to keep the fire contained to the laundry room, where extensive damage occurred, and smoke and heat travelled throughout the second floor.

The cause of the fire appears accidental, and no injuries were reported, fire officials said.

According to the United States Fire Administration, a combination of working smoke alarms and home fire sprinklers will lower the risk of death from fire by greater than 80 percent

  • Install smoke alarms inside of your house. Smoke alarms should be placed outside of sleeping areas and on every level of your home. Contact your local fire department for more information on getting smoke alarms for your home
  • Plan and practice a fire escape plan. Escape first and then call for help.
  • In the case of a fire, get out and stay out.
