Gwinnett Fire Receives Grant for Equipment

Gwinnett County Department of Fire and Emergency Services has been awarded a $5,000 grant for critical safety equipment.

The official grant presentation will be made at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, at the Gwinnett County Department of Fire & EMS, Fire Station No. 20 located at 1801 Cruse Road in Lawrenceville.

According to a press release, the grant was awarded by the Leavitt Group, along with Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company, to provide funding for cooling rehabilitation equipment for firefighters. The grant money will be used to purchase a portable shelter, cooling chairs, portable toilets, a misting fan and core cooling towels. These rehabilitation stations minimize the risk of injury and death to firefighters during training exercises and call, providing them with an on site place where they can rehydrate and recharge.
