Family, Friends to Honor Trey Phillips

Phillips was killed in a motorcycle accident in Lawrenceville, Ga. Friday.

The Gwinnett community will begin official remembrances of Trey Phillips Monday afternoon.

A resident of Lawrenceville, Phillips, 43, was a lawyer in Lawrenceville and an Army Veteran.

Phillips died after a car struck him while he was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle on SR 316 near Boggs Road Friday afternoon. According to a police report, the driver of a Chevy Cavalier was driving on the westbound side of 316 when she lost control and struck the guardrail. Her car continued onto the eastbound side and struck Phillips. He was taken to where he later died. The driver also suffered serious injuries and was taken to Gwinnett Med.

Gwinnett County Police Department's Cpl. Edwin Ritter said the crash is still under investigation and charges are pending.

Family and friends of Phillips announced on Facebook that they will file a last motion for Phillips at the Monday at 1:30pm in Courtroom 3D. 

Visitation hours for Phillips will be Wednesday from 4pm to 8pm at Tom M. Wages Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. A full military funeral will take place Thursday at 11am, also at Tom M. Wages. Phillips will be buried at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton with Military Honors.

I am deeply saddened by this news. Trey was a talented lawyer and an outstanding citizen. He will be missed.

I am so sorry to hear this sad news. I met Trey through a case he had here in Forsyth Superior and he was so easy to work with. My heart breaks for his family.

I am deeply saddened by the news of Trey's untimely death. He was an excellent attorney, a friend and fellow motorcyclist. He will be missed. I extend my most heartfelt condolences to his family.

I can't even begin to say how much this saddens my heart! Trey (Sparky) was a great guy and always seemed to have a smile on his face. We will all miss you, Sparky!

Gwinnett County lost a great person and attorney on Friday!! I always enjoyed working with Trey and his clients, he always had clients best interest at heart.

I was thankful to know Trey in short time I knew him. I worked on his house getting know him and creating and a new friendship with a great and funny guy. He was full of life and was enjoying it.. He loved that motorcycle and I'm sure its not the way he wanted to go but he was happy and doin what he loved. U'll b greatly missed buddy!!!

My name is Alishia Johnson. I am apart of a committee for "CAN YOU SEE ME NOW CAMPAIGN". The name of our organization is BIKERS FOR A SAFER GEORGIA. The purpose of our organization is to have a few laws amended that will have harsher penalities for people who hit the motorcyclists OF GEORGIA. We also want to bring safety awareness. We are organizing a ride on July 26 to the Capital. We have also included Mr. Phillips in a memorial days after his death.
