Family Friend Saves 2-Year-Old from Burning House

Wayne Knighton has been revealed as the man who saved a 2-year-old from a burning house on March 6.

A toddler in Lawrenceville was saved from a burning house on March 6, and now the identity of the man who brought her to safety has been revealed.

Wayne Knighton, a family friend, was asleep in a guest bedroom when the sound of his friends' 2-year-old daughter, Avery Grimes, woke him up. He entered the room and saw flames and smoke.

“An explosion occurred, which knocked me back on top of her and after that I just looked around and I could see a path to our back door,” Knighton said, according to WSBTV.

Knighton's back and arms were burned as he crawled through the smoke and fire, holding the toddler underneath him.

Knighton said that he was just trying to get the young girl out of the house. ''That was my main concern.''
