Escaped SC Inmates Last Seen in Lawrenceville

South Carolina state prison officials say two men escaped and were reportedly last seen in Lawrenceville Monday evening.

According to WPDE Newschannel 15, Dameon Simpson and Kyle William Norris escaped from a work site in Florence County, SC sometime between Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

Clark Newsom of the South Carolina Department of Corrections told WPDE's Tonya Brown that the two tricked a car salesman in Lawrenceville into letting them take a car on a test drive and never returned it. Simpson and Norris are believed to be driving a white Pontiac Grand Prix. The Georgia state dealers license number on the car is DL91591.

They are believed to be driving to Florida where Norris has family.

Simpson is a 34 year old white male with brown hair and hazel eyes. He's six feet tall and weighs 189 pounds and has two tattoos. According to the SCDOC website, Simpson was sentenced to five years for a hit and run.

Norris is a 26 year old white male with brown hair and brown eyes. He's 5'8" and weighs 145. Norris was sentenced to five years for burglary according to the SCDOC website.

The two walked away from the work site they were assigned to as part of their pre-release from a minimum security prison in Florence, SC.

US Marshals and South Caroline state prison's special investigation unit are searching Lawrenceville and Gwinnett County.
