Man Charged with Vehicular Homicide for Accident Near Sugarloaf Mills

The June accident occurred in the area of Sugarloaf Mills in Lawrenceville.

A Duluth man is facing a vehicular homicide charge in connection with an accident in June near Sugarloaf Mills mall that also involved a motorcyclist.

Ji Won Im of an Oxwell Drive address was booked into the Gwinnett Detention Center on Wednesday (Nov. 20) on Gwinnett Sheriff's warrants. He faces $5,700 bond on the vehicular homicide charge, and $650 bond on a charge of failure to obey a yield sign.

According to the Gwinnett Police incident report, the victim was Gustavo A. Ospina of a Springmont Court address in Lawrenceville.

The accident occurred at the intersection of SR 120 and Atkinson Road on June 13, about 5:50 p.m., police said.

Ospina was traveling northbound on Atkinson Road and turned westbound onto SR 120, police said. Im was leaving the mall and entered the right turn only lane to SR 120. Im turned right and collided with Ospina.

The collision knocked the victim off his motorcycle and onto the roadway. Ospina was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center for injuries sustained in the accident.
