Lawrenceville Mother Faces Multiple Charges After Multi-Car Crash on 316

Two of the children injured were reportedly unrestrained. They were taken by helicopter to a hospital in Atlanta.

Lawrenceville Patch has obtained new details regarding Tuesday's in the middle of rush hour.

In a phone call to Patch, Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Jake Smith, said a minivan with five children slammed into a car stopped in traffic near the Sugarloaf Parkway exit. The car that was hit then crashed into the car in front of it.

Smith identified the driver of that minivan as 32 year old Angela Gamboa of Lawrenceville.

Police say none of the children in Gamboa's vehicle were properly restrained. Two of them were injured and taken by helicopter to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. 

A child in the middle car was taken to a hospital in Atlanta by ambulance. The driver of the middle car and the minivan were taken by ambulance to local hospitals. The driver of the first vehicle was not seriously injured and was treated on the scene.

Smith said Gamboa has been charged with following too closely and two citations involving child restraints.

There were also several minor accidents due to rubbernecking, including a hit and run. "People need to not look at the wreck and pay attention to the road," said Smith.
