Car Stolen with Baby Inside in Lawrenceville

The mother said she left her car unlocked and running while she went inside a store because her 17 month old baby was asleep.

A Lawrenceville man has been arrested and charged in connection with an August 8th kidnapping and theft of a vehicle.

Last month, a mother said she left her 2011 Toyota Highlander running while she quickly went inside Panaderia Jalisco at 41 Paper Mill Rd. in the City of Lawrenceville. The mother told Lawrenceville Police that her 17 month old son was sleeping so she left the baby in the unlocked car. Also in the car was a Coach purse with $8,000 and a diaper bag with $2,300.

The car was left unlocked because the mother said she was only running in for a second according to the police report.

While inside the bakery, someone reportedly got in the woman's SUV and drove off.

A short time later, Lawrenceville police officers received a call that the baby and the diaper bag were at a home about a mile away on Springbottom Court.

The woman at the home said a friend of hers named "Alpha" drove up in a Highlander, dropped the baby off and told her to babysit. She told police she knew the child was not his, so she walked to a neighbor's house and called 911.

An officer picked up the baby and brought him back to his parents' home a short time later.

After searching the Gwinnett County Sheriff's website, a Lawrenceville officer was able to find a photo of the possible suspect. He was later identified as Alpha Amadou Bah of 1030 Papercreek Drive in Lawrenceville.

Bah was arrested Monday and has been charged with Kidnapping and Theft by Taking Auto.

You have got to be kidding me. So what is the mother charged with? This makes me ill. And then to leave a Coach bag in the car as a taunt. Really?

why isn't she charged with child endangerment?

Why have that kind of money in two different bags. Sounds as if she was making deliveries or buys.

That was a lot of money to be leaving in an unattended vehicle, not to mention leaving her CHILD!!!
