Car Fire at GGC Intentionally Set Say Investigators

Firefighters found the car inside a campus garage engulfed in flames on Sunday.

On Sunday evening, crews were called to a vehicle fire inside a garage at . Shortly after 6pm, crews found a car engulfed in flames on the third level of a five-story garage on the campus.

A woman was in the car at the time and she initially told investigators the fire was accidental and may have been caused by a mechanical issue. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the fire was intentionally set by the woman in an attempt to cause harm to herself. She was evaluated and released at the scene for exposure to smoke products.Β 

Investigators say the woman is not a student at GGC and is not connected to the school in any way. Her identity has not been released as the investigation continues.
