1 Hurt in On-Campus Shooting at Georgia Gwinnett College

Update: The Gwinnett Daily Posted hinted that Thursday's shooting might have been a suicide attempt. The paper also reported the victim is a male.

A person was shot on the roof of the campus parking deck Thursday afternoon, the school reported.

The incident happened around 2 p.m. when campus police responded to a 911 call.

“It appears a gunshot wound occurred on the top level of the deck,” the school stated on its website.

“Campus security determined this was an isolated incident with no threat to the campus as the weapon was recovered at the scene.”

No information was given on the person’s identity nor medical condition. The injured person was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center. The school was not locked down.

The GBI was asked to assist in the investigation.
