13 Patch Pointers

Here are some useful tips to help you get the most out of Lawrenceville Patch.

We're excited to be part of the Lawrenceville community. We are Lawrenceville Patch, and without you, there is no us. We hope you join us in this online experience. You'll have lots of opportunities to let your voice be heard here on Patch. Comment on stories, share your opinions, post pictures and share your events on the community calendar.

To help familiarize you with some of the many features of Patch, we've compiled a list of 13 Patch Pointers to help you and our neighbors get the most out of Patch.

1. Post a comment!

Find out what's happening in Lawrencevillewith free, real-time updates from Patch.

We want to hear what you have to say about a story. We at Patch believe "news is a conversation." Some of our best stories may come from your ideas and your comments. You can share your thoughts and reactions to our articles by posting them right below each story.

2. Give us a tip

Find out what's happening in Lawrencevillewith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Much like the waiter at your favorite downtown restaurant, we greatly appreciate tips -- news tips, that is! If there's a story you think should be covered by Patch, just scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the "Tell Us" button at the top of each article. Then magically (ok, via e-mail) your tip will be sent to Vanzetta Evans, your Lawrenceville Patch editor.

3. Ask a question

Who's pitching tonight for the G-Braves? Did the city's budget pass? How many varieties of slugs are indigenous to Lawrenceville? Got a question? Post it on Patch's Q&A section. We'll hunt down the details and turn it into a story, or maybe one of our neighbors has the answer and will post it. (Any slug experts in Lawrenceville?)

4. Post an event

Gone are the days of posting events on telephone poles! Now you can post your fundraiser, garage sale, concert… pretty much anything, right here on Patch's Events calendar.

5. Exercise your bragging rights

Let all of Lawrenceville share in your achievements and life events. Share your birth, engagements and wedding announcements on our site. Did your child make the Honor Roll? Let us know! You can also post announcements if you're looking for volunteers for your organization. But remember, announcements are for personal use and not for advertising. See our Terms of Use for more on that.

6. Advertise on Patch

Want to promote your business? Contact our Ad Manager, Yao Carr, at yao.carr@patch.com. He can answer all of your questions about advertising.

7. "Like" Us

We know you like us. You really, really like us. (Sorry, couldn't resist the Sally Fields reference there). But, be sure to "Like" us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter. We'll let you know what stories we're out working on and when they're posted on our site in 140 characters or less.

8. Review a restauarant

Do you know a place where the halibut is heavenly or the tiramisu is to die for? Share your restaurant reviews with your neighbors. Let us know if the service was superb or sub-par. Just please be fair. You can also use the reviews to find and try new restaurants by filtering by cuisine, price or seating accommodations.

9. Say it loud!

Got something to say? You can say it in our "What do you have to say?" box on the homepage. Whatever you type will go right into the stream for all our friends and neighbors to see. Just remember to keep it civil; we're a community.

10. Say cheese!

Pick up your camera and snap away! Send us your photos and videos from the big cross-town rivalry game, sunset at , or your kids at the Gwinnett County Fair.

11.  Claim your directory listing

Patch has the most complete directory listings on the World Wide Web. We sent crews out to visit stores, schools, churches, libraries, parks… everywhere in Lawrenceville! They took pictures, talked to business owners and got detailed information about each location. You can contact us about your listing at directorysupport@patch.com. If you own or manage a business or organization listed in our directory, claim it here.

12. Get Patch delivered daily

Instead of having to trek out in your bathrobe to search for your morning paper in the rain, you can have a daily Lawrenceville Patch newsletter in your inbox everyday at 6 a.m. We'll send you all the articles and announcements posted in the last 24 hours. You can also get a weekly newsletter sent to you every Thursday at 10 a.m. This has all the top news of the week. Sign up by going to the "Follow Us" and "Newsletter" links in the right column of this page.

13.  Write a Letter to the Editor

We want to hear from you. Feel free to send a letter to the editor about a local issue. She doesn't bite! Send us your thoughts and concerns about what's going on in our city. We'll be sure to post it. Send your letters, less than 300 words, to vanzetta.evans@patch.com. Letters can be edited for accuracy, length and adherence to our terms of use.

Lawrenceville Patch is your sounding board for the community. So get involved. The more we hear from you, the better our Patch will be and the more connected our community will be.
