Lawrenceville Woman Killed in Car Accident Months After Twin’s Death

A Gwinnett County family is grieving the loss of a young woman, just months after losing her twin sister.

Jennifer Chandler Moss, 26, was killed in a single car accident early Sunday morning. Her husband of just one year, Michael Moss, was behind the wheel at the time of the crash. His charges include DUI, driving too fast for conditions and vehicular homicide.

According to a report from Gwinnett County Police, Michael was trying to make a curve on Hiram Davis Road in unincorporated Lawrenceville, when he lost control. The car rolled over, flipped and the roof of the car hit a tree. Michael was thrown from the car, but suffered only minor injuries. Jennifer was trapped in the car and died at the scene.

Alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the fatal accident. 

In June, Jennifer’s twin sister Heather Chandler died at the age of 25. She was a student at Georgia Gwinnett College and dreamed of becoming a special education teacher.

Family and friends set up a page on GiveForward.com to raise money to pay for Jennifer’s funeral expenses. “This heartache is something that no parent should ever experience,” it reads on the page. “Anyone who has lost someone can understand how expensive putting together everything needed for a funeral can be, so out of the love in our hearts for this amazing family this fundraiser has been created to help them out.”

As of Wednesday evening, a little more than $5,000 has been raised.

Jennifer, a graduate of Grayson High School, was an operations manager at ABC Rent-A-Car in Lawrenceville and was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Lawrenceville.

Visitation for Jennifer is Wednesday until 8pm. Her funeral will be held Thursday, December 12 at 2pm at the Lawrenceville Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home.
