Summer Splashdown: Gwinnett Pools Open Memorial Day Weekend

Grab your swimsuit and towel (don't forget sunscreen) and have some fun.

Well, school is out and (finally) it’s time to hit the pool.

All of Gwinnett County’s public pools and aquatics centers open Saturday, May 24 to start the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

The county parks and recreations department runs nine pool facilities in Gwinnett.

Visitors can enjoys a variety of activities, from large waterslides, lazy rivers, water play structures, picnic areas and more.

The rec department recommends:

  • Never leave a child unattended in a pool or spa and always watch your child when he or she is in or near water
  • Teach children basic water safety tips
  • Keep children away from pool drains, pipes and other openings to avoid entrapment
  • Have a telephone close by when you or your family are using a pool or spa
  • If a child is missing, look for him or her in the pool or spa first
  • Share safety instructions with family, friends and neighbors

 “Learning how to swim saves lives,” Aquatics Coordinator Christine Greenfield said in a press release. “We encourage all families to enroll in swim lessons and safety programs by contacting your local pool.”
