Marvelous Matilda Jane Needs a Loving Home

This four-year old-Lab/Shepherd mix was about to be put down, but now has a second chance and needs a good home.

Meet Miss Matilda Jane, a four-year old-Lab/Shepherd mix (who probably also has a few drops of Pit Bull thrown in). This magnificent girl came to us from Gwinnett Animal Control, where she landed after being picked up as a stray. During her time on the run, Matilda had an unfortunate meeting with a vehicle of some sort, and she came out on the losing end. Her left front leg was shattered, and it seemed that the only option was euthanasia. However, a very kind lady from Texas heard about Matilda's story, and her need for a very expensive orthopedic surgery to repair her leg. This nice lady paid Matilda's entire vet bill, which amounted to over $1200! Matilda had a long recovery, but her leg is in pretty good shape now. Though she will always be a bit stiff in that leg, she can run, jump, play fetch and keep up with the best of them! Matilda is a lovely, smart, loving girl. She is great with kids, and very much a house dog. She does enjoy chasing cats, so she needs a no-kitty home. Matilda is housebroken, crate-trained, and leash-trained. She would love to have access to a backyard, where she can run and play fetch, but this is not necessarily a requirement. Matilda has lived with many other dogs during her time in foster care, but we have learned that she really prefers to be the only dog in the household. She can be very dominant and bossy with other canines at times. She might do okay with one or two other dogs, but we'd have to consider that on an individual basis. Matilda LOVES squeaky toys, and she also loves soft dog beds. She has been known to squeeze her big ol' rear end into little, tiny dog beds! Matilda will be a faithful companion to the lucky person who adopts her. Please let us know if you would like to offer her a forever home!

Matilda is fully vetted -- spayed and current on vaccinations and deworming. She did test mildly positive for heartworms. The medication used to treat heartworms is on back order from the manufacturer at this time. As soon as it is available, Matilda will be treated at NO cost to her adopter. Matilda's adoption fee is $150 (cash only, please).

You can apply to adopt by submitting an application via our website at http://www.sohfga.com/. We hold adoptions at Petco in Snellville from 12-4 every Saturday and Sunday. Not every pet is present on every adoption day, so if you want to meet this one, be sure and contact us!
