Community Corner

Miss Mountain View Pageants LAST REGISTRATION DATE

A true community pageant the Miss Mountain View Pageants is open to ALL girls who live in OR attend a school in our Mountain View Community (the Mountain View School  Zone).  Whether you are attending of our of outstanding public schools in our cluster, enrolled in our Gwinnett Online Campus, attend a private academy or are home schooled, you are eligible to be a part of our program!

We feel it is important to celebrate everything that is wonderful about our community  and truly believe what makes us unique resides in the hearts of the amazing young ladies who live here, regardless to what school they attend.

Albeit a fundraiser for our high school PTSA, the purpose of PTSA is not just what happens in the four walls of our school building but actually involves family AND COMMUNITY!!   The Miss Mountain View Pageants provide a safe place for girls to get together, do the “girl thing” and make a difference in our community through volunteerism.  They build friendships that will last a life time while growing into compassionate young women with strong leadership skills.

Speaking of fundraiser, please know that 100% of the proceeds from the Miss Mountain View Pageants go directly to the Mountain View High School’s PTSA to support the programs, scholarships and student initiatives that continue to bring excellence in education to our parents, teachers and students as well as our community as a whole.  Some of these include the Health and Wellness Fair, Reflections (for creative arts), Red Ribbon Week for our students (Drug and Alcohol Prevention), Teen Driving Safety Awareness, The “Bear Chain” (coincides with 11Alive’s Random Acts of Kindness Month), Shoes4Soles, events for our graduating seniors and we event provide each student with the Official Mountain View Agenda Book to keep track of their assignments and school activities as well as deadlines for scholarships, colleges, etc.  We also have a student leadership team where we facilitate the ideas of our students for school and community improvement and impact! That’s just some of the many great things the funds from the Miss Mountain View Pageants provide.

The Miss Mountain View Pageants are what is referred to as a “natural” pageant.  We do NOT allow make-up on our elementary girls and expect each young lady to look and dress her age.  We have numerous age divisions because we are truly looking for confident young ladies to represent HER peers.  We welcome braces, glasses and yes … even “break outs” because they are all a part of life!  We are not what one would call a typical “beauty” pageant and that’s fine by us.  We focus on inner beauty and confidence.  Our 3 “C’s” if you will:  Character, Confidence, Community.  It’s the intangible things that truly make one beautiful and as a mentoring pageant it is our heart song to instill these qualities in the young ladies that participate in our pageant/program.

Official Miss Mountain View Platform:  Literacy – “A Reign To Read”

Each pageant system has its own "DNA" so to speak. Miss Mountain View has done an amazing job supporting many organizations in Gwinnett County.  All the while, we felt that we had our own, distinct purpose in service.  Miss Mountain View was born from the Mountain View cluster schools, and we believe in education and literacy. It is our passion to help all children be as successful as possible, knowing that literacy is key.

The Miss Mountain View class of 2014 will be the trailblazers for this ground-breaking venture bringing a greater awareness to the importance of reading. Our representatives will work with local schools, churches and ministries to provide children in need with free access to books, and provide support through classroom visits and read-alouds at events throughout the county. There will be much more to come in the next few months about this exciting opportunity!
