HoneyBaked, famous for its sweet, crunchy glazed hams and turkeys, got its start in Atlanta in 1972. The first store was on Buford Highway – and customers can still see where HoneyBaked founder Harry Hoenselaar signed the rafters. Now, there are more than 20 HoneyBaked stores in the metro-Atlanta area, with up to 1,000 seasonal and full-time employees throughout Georgia. HoneyBaked of Georgia’s headquarters, based in Alpharetta, services over 300 HoneyBaked company and franchise locations across the nation, as well as a shipping business in Carrolton, Ga.

On Saturday, Oct. 13 from 1 to 3 p.m., the North Point location in Alpharetta will celebrate with special deals and giveaways including 40 free pounds of ham, 40 free mini hams, gift cards and more. All metro stores will have gift card giveaways, and special deals like $17.99 BBQ Pork Roast, $19.99 Smoked or Roasted Turkey Breast, any three sides for $19.99, or a free kid’s meal with purchase of a regular meal. They’ll also have other games, goodies and opportunities for prizes and products.  As the official kickoff to the 2012 holiday season, guests of the celebrations will also have the opportunity to pre-order holiday hams and other dinner items onsite.

“HoneyBaked Ham has been a holiday favorite for many Atlanta area residents for 40 years now,” said Maggie DeCan, COO of HoneyBaked. “We’re celebrating four decades of being invited into homes and onto holiday dinner tables, generation after generation. For many families, HoneyBaked is as synonymous with holiday tradition as opening presents.”

But it’s not just for the holidays anymore. Over the last 40 years, HoneyBaked has made continuous improvements, including recently expanding its stores and menus to include items for lunch, catered events and dinner. Each location in the metro area has transformed from the HoneyBaked store that once offered shoppers a place to pick up their holiday hams, to the current HoneyBaked store that not only features flavorful hams and turkeys, but serves delicious sandwiches, salads, and fully-cooked, convenient meals for every occasion. Just this year in the metro-Atlanta area, HoneyBaked has served close to 2-million meals – 1,813,367 to be exact.

“Our mission at HoneyBaked is ‘Celebrating life, one meal at a time,’” said DeCan. “To us, that means being there for our customers when they celebrate with friends and family, and on October 13, we want them to join us as we celebrate 40 years of serving Atlanta!”
