Powerball Jackpot Jumps to Over $350 Million, Third-Largest in History

Saturday night's $270 million Powerball prize went unclaimed. Now, the jackpot is $350 million, the third-highest prize ever for the lottery game.
As with other jackpots, the final prize money may be well over $350 million by the time Wednesday comes. The more that the public becomes excited about a possible record-breaking win, the more people buy tickets.
And, the more people buy tickets, the higher the jackpot becomes.

Powerball tickets for each game are $2, and there’s a 1 in 175.2 million chance that any ticket will win the grand prize.
Tickets for Powerball are sold from 5 a.m. until 10 p.m. on the days they are drawn (Wednesday and Saturday), and until 1 a.m. on all other days, according to lottery officials.

The $350 million Powerball jackpot is the seventh highest annuity prize in United States history, and the sixth highest cash payout — $222.8 million — of all-time.
The biggest Powerball jackpot ever was won Nov. 28, 2012, a $587.5 million prize split between two tickets.
