If you cruise down Cruse Road in unincorporated Lawrenceville, be aware of a new traffic pattern.
Starting Wednesday, drivers will be diverted on to a temporary bridge over the Sweetwater Creek. This is between James Road and Vintage Pointe Drive.
The county is working on replacing the bridge over the creek. The temporary bridge allows Cruse Road to be open to drivers during construction.
The new bridge will better support the amount of traffic that travels over the aging bridge. The replacement will also withstand flooding. Safety features including shoulders and and improved guardrail at the ends of the bridge will be part of the new structure.
Also part of the project is the addition of sidewalks. They will run from Sweetwater Middle School to Club Drive.
The total amount for the projects is $2,870,294.20 and is being funded by 2009 SPLOST funds. All work should be completed by mid-2013.
