Meet Lawrenceville Patch Blogger Jessica Burns

"From time to time I have been known to approach awkward situations by imagining people as forest animals and/or fruit… because let's face it… who can get angry at a flustered banana?"

Do you read the blogs on your local Patch? Blogging is fun, easy, free and open to everyone. In May, Patch is going to take some time to get to know our local bloggers. This week we are visiting with Jessica Burns, whose blogs are frequently featured on the Lawrenceville Patch.

Jessica Burns owns and operates a Lawrenceville tea shop known as Aristeacrats. Here is some information she shared with us in an email interview:

What is your educational background?
I graduated from Berkmar High School and went to Full Sail University in Winter Park Florida where I received my degree in science for Computer Animation.

Tell us a little about yourself, your interests, your accomplishments, what’s important to you…
I own a teashop in downtown Lawrenceville called , it’s been opened for two years and houses a multitude of delicious conversations and fantastic tea. I’m human so I suppose I have much in common with a lot of people, for example: I love music, art and humorous things. I do try to live my life as lightheartedly as possible. From time to time I have been known to approach awkward situations by imagining people as forest animals and/or fruit…. because let’s face it…. who can get angry at a flustered banana? I live in Decatur and spend most of my time at the teashop, brunching, enjoying live music and convincing my dogs that they should behave.

What are your ties to Lawrenceville Patch? How did you become involved with blogging here?
Owning a business in downtown Lawrenceville introduced me to Patch. I noticed that there wasn’t anyone blogging about music. I would love for the day to come when I have an endless amount of blogs based on Lawrenceville’s live music scene. Until then, I like to hit local spots in Gwinnett and Atlanta. There’s something out there for everyone, our sense of hearing is just as powerful to our memories as anything else. It’s relative and personal on so many levels and really, has anyone of us ever really met someone who hates music?

Why do you like to blog and what subjects are your favorites to write about?
I enjoy blogging because it’s a way to invite people into my world on a guarded level. I know that sounds introverted and maybe a little pretentious but it’s the truth. I hope to make a small impact on what people listen to or how they relate to it. It is awesome being in touch with so many people and their opinions but at the end of the day I just like go back to being me, which usually means I’m naming the squirrels in my backyard or creating a fort for my dogs.

Do you have a favorite quotation?
At the moment I’m really digging...
