UPDATE: Fuel Tank Turned Over

The accident occurred on Winder Hwy near Hwy 316 in Gwinnett County

Gwinnett County Police report a fuel tanker tank has overturned on Winder Hwy, not far from Hwy 316. GCPD reports fuel is leaking from the tank. It happened around 12:30pm Monday.

According to authorities at the scene, a white Jeep Cherokee crossed the center line on Winder Highway about a half-mile off 316 and collided with a tractor-trailer carrying 8,500 gallons of fuel a little after noon. Officials are working to off-load the remaning fuel and clean up the scene, and the road is expected to be closed for another couple of hours. Highway 316 traffic is not affected. Drivers of both vehicles were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
