Dacula Soccer Club Announces TOPS Award Recipient

Dacula Soccer Club is very excited to announce it’s first ever TOPSoccer Buddy of the Year award. TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) is a community-based training and team placement program for young athletes with disabilities, organized by youth soccer association volunteers. These volunteers commit their time to ensure that our TOPSoccer players have a fun, safe, and developmentally appropriate environment to enjoy the game of soccer, and the program could not be successful without them.

These volunteers are called ‘Buddies’ and in an effort to show them just how much we appreciate what they do, DSC has instituted an award program. This year's recipient is someone that has been very committed over the last 5 seasons, and the program has come to rely on him for his dedication and constancy. Trent Dunahoo, a junior at Hebron Christian Academy, volunteers his time because he loves working with special needs kids. A multi-sport athlete, Trent still takes the time to welcome each player at the start of the sessions and shows genuine enthusiasm the players can feel. One parent, whose child has participated in TOPSoccer for the last two years said, "Trent is an exceptional young man and is so patient and diligent with [our son]. We really appreciate his genuine effort and the time he takes to get and keep [him] involved while he is at TOPSoccer."

This program would not be as successful as it has become without our volunteers, and Trent Dunahoo is this year’s best. He is a natural when working with children with special needs, and while his future plans include pursuit of a degree in business, he has all the qualities that make a great buddy: patience, dedication and enthusiasm. Thank you, Trent, for all your hard work and for being DSC’s TOPSoccer Buddy of the Year.
